Wear a blouse tucked or untucked according to its length, the space inside your waistband and the shape you want. Compare a full tuck, a small front tuck and an untucked version with the same bottoms. There is no universal rule that one looks smarter or works for every blouse.
Start with the untucked version
Put on the blouse without arranging the hem. Look at where it ends relative to the waistband, pockets and any detail you want visible. Check the side view as well as the front. If the hem is already short, there may be too little fabric for a tuck that stays in place. Do not force a cropped blouse into a waistband simply because another shirt looked good that way.
Try a full tuck without pulling tight
If there is enough length, place the hem inside the waistband evenly and leave room to move. Check for a bulky ridge, fabric bunching or buttons being pulled apart. Raise your arms, sit and stand. If the blouse comes out immediately or the waistband feels crowded, the untucked version may be more practical with those particular bottoms.
You can also compare different bottoms you already own. The same blouse may tuck comfortably into one pair and feel cramped in another. That is a pairing issue to assess, rather than a reason to buy the blouse in a different size without checking its guide.
Compare a small front tuck
Tuck a small section at the centre front and leave the rest free, if the blouse's length and construction allow it. Check the transition at the sides; you may prefer a neat, deliberate change rather than fabric pulled sharply into one spot. Walk and sit again. Avoid securing the blouse with pins or altering it just to hold an experimental tuck.
Look at the details you want to show
A waistband, belt or front pocket may be hidden by an untucked hem. A blouse's own lower edge or front detail may disappear with a full tuck. Choose which part of the outfit you want visible. A front tuck can offer a third option, but it does not automatically improve an outfit that you already like untucked.
For a clear comparison, take three photographs in the same position with the same shoes and bag. Focus on hem position and comfort rather than changing every accessory between pictures. Choose the version that still looks and feels right after movement, not only after arranging it for a photograph.

The useful question is whether this blouse and these bottoms work together in the way you will actually wear them.
